10 Cut out words from newspapers, magazines and old books that connect to your emotions and story, or even because you are drawn to the typography. I like to always have these on hand for my creating. You can also type up words and print them out if you do not have the resources above. Add handwritten, cutout, stamped or typed words to your timeline. This can be poetry, places, feelings or whatever you are trying to express.

11 Using a black Stabilo pencil, loosely sketch flowers. I used flowers to symbolize beauty, growth and nurturing. If you choose to add flowers, you can attach any meaning you want to them. Dip a no. 4 round long-handled brush in water and gently wipe it on a cloth to prevent too much water from pooling on the paper. Once the Stabilo is activated with water it provides a very intense black, so I was light-handed with my sketching and also with how much water I used to activate it. Staying within the lines of the floral, draw the black into the floral. Make sure not to activate the entire sketch and to leave some of the lines dry. We are using the same techniques shared in Chapter 8.
